THE CELLAR NIGHT EXHIBITION

What to Expect

This exhibition began as a last-minute pop-up, an end-of-year event while I was working for the city. Being an artist is an achievement on its own, and navigating the art world anywhere can be challenging no matter where you are in your career.

Yet this event grew into a welcoming space for the underdogs: the newcomers, the freelancers, the “I do this on the side” creatives, and the nine-to-fivers. It is a special place—somewhere you might not expect to find work of this caliber—and that is exactly why I chose to create it.

In sleepy, little North Sydney I wanted vibrancy and excitement, the movers and shakers, the odd, the different, and the obscure, and each year that is precisely what we get. From crown attorneys and CEOs to grocery clerks and everyone in between, many walks of life gather here.

Now, The Cellar Night Exhibition has reached its third instalment, and this event has become something far greater than I could have ever imagined.

We hope to see you there

Intentional Structure

The Cellar is more than ‘just a bar’. It has an incredible story, and tells itself as you journey through the space.

All walks of life, all mediums and all who have an appreciation for any kind of artistic development is welcome

Collaborative Energy

Connection is a core part of this project. You’ll learn just as much from the artists, as from the art itself.

You might even learn something about yourself if you stick around long enough

Expert Facilitation

Led by an experienced freelance curator who knows how to create an atmosphere, allows room for the artist and patrons feeling like they belong, because.. well.. they do.

A Supportive Space

Our events prioritize comfort, safety, and respect—so you can show up, and fully engage in the atmosphere and process with no judgment, bias or questions. Come as you are, bring a friend.

A glimpse at the show

Filmed by fellow artist and videographer, Gbeke Nelly of PlayCounty, joined us and filmed a little look into The Cellars 2025 Night Exhibition

A person standing near a table in a dimly lit room with string lights and framed pictures on the wall, featuring a concrete pillar with a decorative round sign.
A dimly-lit bar, exposed brick walls and string lights hanging from the ceiling. There is a television mounted on the wall displaying a scene with men in suits and sunglasses. On the right wall, there are colorful heart-shaped and lollipop artwork.
Two people smiling and sitting close together in a cozy, brick-walled café or restaurant. The older man has short blonde hair and is wearing a patterned shirt. The young woman has long black hair, orange tinted sunglasses, and is wearing a red sleeveless top with jewelry.
A woman sitting at a bar with a smile, wearing a beige jacket and a black beanie. There is a man behind the bar smiling, and the bar has a sign that reads 'Full of Cheer and Good Spirits.'
